Getting Your Book Ready to Show the World
Who Am I?

I am the award-winning author of the "Down World" trilogy.
My first novel, “Down World,” was the winner of the Best Young Adult Watty Award in 2019. The book was published in 2021, distributed internationally by Macmillan USA, Penguin Random House (UK), and Raincoast (Canada).

“Down World” was selected as the Book of the Month by two book clubs, including Once Upon a Book Club. It has been taught in schools throughout the USA.

The two sequels, “Yesterworld” and “Everworld,” are also being published by Wattpad Books. In fact, “Yesterworld” is in bookstores now! See my Goodreads Author Page, my Amazon Author Page, my Barnes & Noble page, or my personal socials to learn more.

The trilogy is currently in development as an animated TV series with Wattpad/Webtoon Studios—producers of the “After” movies, “The Kissing Booth” movies, and “Through My Window” (“A Traves de mi Ventana” in Spain).

In 2022, I successfully queried agents with my first adult contemporary novel, “Wanderlust,” and I am now represented by Barbara Poelle at Word One Literary (formerly with the Irene Goodman Agency).

I am also a successful screenwriter. My original feature, “A Jewish Girl’s Guide to Christmas,” is currently in development with Zubick Films and the Gersh Agency.

I have been a guest panelist at writing conferences including Comic Con NY, Yallwest, WonderCon, and Fan Expo Canada.
How Did I Get the Idea for The Book Salon?
I LOVE reading books. After getting an English degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I headed out to LA where I worked as an actress and screenwriter, studying story structure and craft with Pilar Alessandra at On the Page. Then about ten years ago, I started writing novels as well.

Over time, my friends would ask me to give them feedback on a recently finished novel or short story. I realized that I had a real passion for breaking down the stories, digging deeper into the plot, the themes, and the character arcs, and finding ways to help my friends tighten and improve their work.

Having worked with professional editors as a novelist myself (and having independently employed freelance editors who… let’s just say weren’t very helpful), I really understand just how necessary insightful, useful feedback can be.

If you are thinking of sending your work to an agent or another industry professional, having an experienced, knowledgeable set of eyes on your work first is an absolute must.
